Japan’s undisputed Queen of Hip Pop recently announced that she will be releasing a special collaboration album (which is cutely getting called Amuro’s Collabo by fans). Amongst the news that she will be dueting with lots of famous J-pop stars was that After School will be making their official, Japanese debut on a track with Amuro!
Amazing right?! Namie is one of my favourite J-pop artists (definitely top 5), and whilst After School aren’t my favourite band, I do like their music and style so I’m super stoked for them! Check here for a brief teaser for the MV and you can hear a short clip of the song:
Everyone looks amazing right? Especially Namie and Kahi. The song sounds really good too so be sure to check back for the full audio!
For me, this represents a landmark development in the Korean, Hallyu wave. Of course you had/have artists like BoA and DBSK and in the past few months we have seen the surge in popularity of KARA and SNSD (Shoju Jidai), but to my knowledge, this is the first time a Korean idol girlgroup has dueted with such a huge star in Japan. It will be interesting to know why Namie selected After School – I think they have similar, punchy and fierce attitudes and stage presence.
With KARA’s future looking stressed, and SNSD following a cuter image, After School definitely has a chance to launch in Japan with a strong, powerful debut.
The Korean music shows are slowly returning to screens this weekend after a long period of mourning for the naval tragedy that occurred not so long ago. My sympathies reach out to everyone sadly affected by such a sad and avoidable loss of life.
Amidst another claim of plagerism, After School continue to promote their new hit, Bang. It’s a shame though, the K-pop music industry seems to have another plagerism case every week. But I guess with a turn around of songs and artists that happen monthly, weekly and even daily, the K-pop insiders are struggling to think of ideas. Alas, there’s no excuse for stealing someone else’s stuff.
The song is pretty catchy though! Check out the girls performing Bang on Music Bank:
You know, I’ve never really noticed it before but I think After School are a lot like 2PM. At least in this performance, they totally remind me of 2PM’s Heartbreaker live stages. I think this might be my favourite performance of Because of You to date.
After School are definitely the SNSD of Winter. Awww, bless em. I don’t like Because of You as much as Gee or Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) but it’s pretty perfect for the end of the year ^_^
Okay, so I don’t love After School as much as T-ara or SNSD but there’s still enough place on my ipod for them. This song is pretty nice, if we’re going to have a winter season ballad contest, I think this might just beat Park Bom’s You and Me, but then again maybe not. The girls looked really pretty on Music Bank. Sometimes I think the suit look is a bit too… mechanical, but sometimes I think it looks very sophisticated. Here, I think it looks pretty stylish.
Because of You seems to be the winter Gee, it’s dominating the K-pop scene and people can’t get enough at the moment. Although it pains me because T-ara is my
life favourite and I wish they were as popular, it’s alright I guess because this song is pretty awesome and I do like it. I think the T-ara girls are much sweeter though. Bo Peep! Haha, I think I like T-ara too much.
The After School girls are back with another fine performance of Because of You! This song really is setting the charts on fire and everyone loves it! It seems to be doing better than T-ara, 2PM and more! So congrats to the girls; check out their performance on Music Bank:
After School are dominating the music scene at the moment with their song Because of You. It’s perfect for this time of year. The band also give great live performances like the one below ^_^
After School are getting all the attention they deserve with their latest song, Because of You. It reminds me of a poppier version of 2NE1′s I don’t care. It’s a nice Winter song I think ^_^
The After School Because of You MV is here! The song is doing really well in the charts and now the MV looks set to dominate the tv sets/computer monitors too! The dance routine is pretty interesting too, less poppy than lots of K-pop artists. Plus, all the girls look really sophisticated and smart; like they could kick ya butt.
