Stefanie Sun – The World Speaks Heart Language Lyrics & MV

13 Mar

Jolin Tsai – Honey Trap MV

27 Jul

Everyone’s favourite Twaiwanese superstar, Jolin Tsai (Cai Yilin) is back with a great new tune set to get your heart racing for the summer! As always, Jolin doesn’t disappoint in the MV. We’ve seen her learn aerobics, pole dancing, ballet and now she is learnt vogueing – the ultra cool, underground dance style that was popularised by Madonna. Jolin does it really well! She’s a great dancer and looks amazing in the video. The song isn’t my favourite Jolin song but hopefully the new album will have some tunes! I’ll try to get some pinyin lyrics soon~

Jolin Tsai – Immediate Effect (蔡依林 – 即時生效) Lyrics and Audio

21 Jun

Jiayou! Jolin is back! It seems like ages since Jolin has give us new music (it’s been about a year so not too long). I listened to her last album a lot whilst writing my dissertation for my final year at university. Listening to it whilst working hard in the library. I tend to listen to songs on repeat if I really like them which means certain songs are intrinsically linked to certain periods of my life and hearing that song again will always remind me of that time (Jolin from dissertation writing, Vanesssa Carlton whilst cycling in Germany during one summer and so on).

She returns with an unusual first single. Jolin is called the Taiwanese Britney Spears and if you watched Wu Niang or Agent J you can easily see why she has this monicker. However, she’s released a summery, melodic slice of C-pop, that wouldn’t be out of place on a drive to the beach. I’m so excited for the new album and the PV! I’m imagining a dance number with bright colours and the sun involved!

Check out the lyrics below, I’ll try to translate them and write them in pinyin so you can sing along soon!

(Kaze ni Mukau Hana ~ Flower in the Wind) PV

21 Jun

I have a lot of respect for alan. She seems like a really smart, intelligent artist – much moreso than a lot of singers at the moment (Asian or otherwise). I’m always really impressed when a singer is multilingual. In this respect, alan reminds me a lot of Sa Ding Ding (heralded as the Chinese Bjork). She’s Tibetan, but can sing in numerous languages and has a soaring, beautiful voice (her technique reflective of traditional Tibetan singing). It’s inspiring to think of alan and Sa Ding Ding growing up in Tibet, all the culture, tradition and the scenery.

I’m not a die-hard alan fan, I think her songs can be often very dramatic and deep and not necessarily the best thing to listen to on the journey into work. I really liked the songs she did for Red cliff (both the Chinese and Japanese songs) and see this is a bit of return to form for her. Let’s hope she’s successful for this release – it’s also very encouraging to see a Chinese star do well in Japan.

Wonder Girls – 2 Different Tears English, Chinese and Korean MV

20 May

The Wonder Girls are back! And they’re back with a hip, cool, funky new song! I’m so impressed by it! It’s so catchy and it’s already in my top 25 played playlist on my ipod so you know I’ve been listening to it non-stop ^_^ I’m really surprised by Lim’s vocals though – they’re quite good and she’s not nearly as annoying as people make her out to be. I feel a bit sorry for her, she needs to be given a break :) She’s always really nice on twitter. Anyways! Check out the MV, do you like it? The concept is a bit weird… I think sometimes JYP has ideas and he just runs with them but they don’t always work… you know? Anyways, what I really like about the Wonder Girls is that they all have strong, distinct personalities and they’re never afraid to do something different. They work so hard! Their Chinese skills are also pretty nice ^_~

Hey everyone! So, I’ve finally done it and translated the lyrics into pinyin – not sure if they’re all correct so you’ll have to forgive any mistakes! Happy singing along~! If you would like an English translation, let me know :)

Jay Chou – Superman Can’t Fly Song with Chinese Lyrics

26 Apr

Hi all! Lately I’ve been on a J-pop splurge: I re-downloaded Namiesan’s stuff to my iPod (for a while I listened to her more than anyone else – I really like her stuff, although I’m not as fond as her most recent album) and listened to Angela Aki and YUI for the first time in a long time. This got me to post more about J-pop the last couple of days (this and the fact that a lot of Korean music shows are currently on hiatus).

So, why not also pay attention to some C-pop? I don’t listen to C-pop nearly as much as J-pop or K-pop. In fact I really only listen to 5 artists: Jolin Tsai, CoCo Lee, Stefanie Sun, Faye Wong and Fiona Sit. Everyone else is just a couple of songs here and there. I think it’s because C-pop is huge and I wouldn’t know where to start. However, one singer who I do like (but am in no way obsessed with) is Jay Chou. Jay Chou, for those that don’t know (as if no one knows who he is!), is the number 1 mega star in China. He sings, he writes and produces his music – he even produces and writes for other artists. He’s also turned his hand to acting (which can be seen in Curse of the Golden Flower).

He’s been on a somewhat long hiatus for an Asian singer. Jay is returning after a 2-year break inbetween albums. His new song is called ‘Chou Ren Bu Hai Fei’ which translates as Superman Can’t Fly. The lyrics remind me of a Sylvia Plath song but hehe. I’ll work on translating these into English tomorrow or today :)

Wonder Girls – Nobody Chinese Version

1 Feb

XD Ah! Wonder Girls are debuting in China! I think Chinese people will love the girls. To debut, they’re releasing a special Chinese version album with a Chinese version of Nobody! I’m not sure if there is going to be other Chinese songs but Nobody is awesome! It reminds me a bit of Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend. They’re going to be making all kinds of versions next! Check out the preview below; granted the guy speaking over it means you can’t hear it that well, but it’s pretty awesome to hear the girls sing in Chinese~
