Miley Cyrus is surprising me, I hope she’s surpising you too. She’s continually making music that’s more adult, more contemporary and well, better. I’m more surprised that she’s working with Timbaland but if anyone could wiggle their way into Timbaland’s goodbooks (or anyone’s for that matter), I better Miley could. I quite like this song, it’s catchy and upbeat and plus, Miley has a pretty great voice. I actually genuinely think this. Don’t judge me.
Younha – I Broke Up Today @ Inkigayo
11 JanYounha is one of my K-pop stars. In fact, after BoA she is the second Korean artist I got into (mostly because I loved J-pop at the moment and she was making a few headwaves in the J-pop scene). Younha has an amazing voice, possibly my favourite after Soyeon’s, but she doesn’t always have hits. Recently she contracted swine flu, and has subsequently fainted twice! Younha! Go rest! You’re so poorly, you should rest lots <3
Ivy – Goodbye Tears @ Inkigayo
11 JanWhy isn’t Ivy getting more recognition? I know about the controversy from before, but she’s back with a great album and a voice that is better than 80% of the K-pop world at the moment. I know she covets controversy too (poor Nichkhun) but she has so much talent. I feel bad for her. Anyways, she actually has a new song to promote. Goodbye Tear is a beautiful ballad and she really shows off her softer side.
2PM – Tired of Waiting @ Inkigayo
11 JanOne of my favourite songs from last year was 2PM’s Heartbreaker (listen to my heart beat, it’s beating for you!). They’re back with a song that sounds very Timabland-esque if you ask me. I’m not sure if I like it more than their last song but I quite like it. The song has minimal production, but that obviously means it’s been produced to within an inch of its life. Actually, it’s not Timbaland, it reminds me exactly of Black Eyed Peas – Boom Boom Pow :O The backing track is so similar!
BEAST – Mystery @ Inkigayo
11 JanI’ve never heard this song until today, I quite like it! It’s catchy and very poppy. *bounces along* mystery mystery mystery mystery! I’m so lame sometimes… I think it’s because I’ve barely been out the past week or so, been too ill ;_; Anyways, check out the performance below. They remind me a little of Verbal from m-flo.
After School – Because of You @ Inkigayo
11 JanYou know, I’ve never really noticed it before but I think After School are a lot like 2PM. At least in this performance, they totally remind me of 2PM’s Heartbreaker live stages. I think this might be my favourite performance of Because of You to date.
T-ara – Bo Peep Bo Peep @ Inkigayo
11 JanT-ara have been winning awards left, right and centre, and I’m beyond happy for them! I’m overjoyed that their hard work is finally paying off. These girls are so talented and they don’t necessarily have the slick production values of other girlbands so I’m really excited they’re finally getting the recognition they deserve! Also, they’re going to promote Like The First Time next week! I <3 Like The First Time~!
HyunA – Change @ Inkigayo
11 JanSorry for not updating my blog more frequently recently, I’ve been really unwell. But I’m finally feeling better and not spending all day in bed so I’m back~! I’ve missed out on a lot though :( Anyways! Let’s get back into things with HyunA! 4Minute are not my favourite band but I like them for the electro-disco inspired music that has something a little more unique than most other groups in the K-pop industry at the moment.
HyunA is breaking out solo with her first single, Change. It’s pretty cool, exactly what I would expect from a 4Minute member, the dance is pretty awesome and funny though~
Faye Wong (王菲) – Yi-lan Cao (幽兰操) (Confucius Movie Theme Song (孔子))
6 JanAre you excited?! Faye Wong is back! Yaaaaaaaaaaay! /overjoyed! Faye Wong is awesome! I think she is an amazing singer and artist. She’s definitely one of the most creative and original singers in China/Asia/Everywhere. I’m absolutely ecstatic that she’s back. She’s back singing Chow Yun Fat’s new film, Confucius. It tells the story of everyone’s favourite philospher, and Faye Wong just recorded the theme song for it days ago! Check it out below! I think it’s beautiful. It’s been 5 long years since she released Jiang Ai (To Love), but now those 5 years are over and we can all celebrate. I <3 Faye.
