f(x) – LA chA TA @ Music Bank

12 Sep

f(x) continue their debut with another professional performance of their hit new song LA chA TA (why it’s written like that I have no idea). As always, they’re on it! And by on it I mean their vocals are good, their dance moves are sharp and their overall presence exudes confidence and charisma. How’d they get to be so professional so fast? I guess SM Entertainment has learnt a lot after debuting so many acts and knows how to put out a group who are so professional they don’t look like rookies. Compare these performances to T-ara’s and you can totally see my point.

Although I do think that the songs sound really similar to something else… The intro song that they perform is just Pussy Cat Doll’s When I Grow Up; LA chA TA sounds like a 90s/80s pop song, but maybe that’s just because it’s good.

T-ara – Lies

13 Aug

My soon to be favourite K-pop girl group T-ara’s MV has been out for a little while now. Apparently it’s getting lots of attention in Korea. Woot for them! It’s very catchy. The thing that I think seperates T-ara from their contempories is their obvious vocal ability. When they go for the notes, they really go for them! There might be a little bit of strain in their voice, but I think they can sing really well. They’re not the most charismatic of performers yet, but hopefully that will come. Anyways… Lies!

T-ara – Lies/Wanna Play @ Inkigayo

T-ara are back! There’s been some changes and they now have 6 members and they seem to be following the Hallyu trend of big girl groups that all dance and sing and rap. Granted, these girls don’t have the finesse or experience of say 2NE1 (who are going from strength to strength), Girls’ Generation (who seem to be the most popular girl group at the moment) or Wondergirls (making waves in America) but I do like them. I think they have some of the stronger voices in K-pop. However, I wish they would practise more and not lip-sync eh!

T-ara – Good Person ver 1

1 May

So, I’ve been on a bit of a K-pop kick recently. I dunno, I just think it’s pretty awesome. T-ara, a new girl group from Mnet, has just released their first MV for their debut single Good Person ver 1. The MV is a little boring, but I think the song is rather awesome! I was a little weary of a new girl group, especially after listening to 2NE1’s lollipop song… But I was surprised by how great T-ara sing! The song has a lot of emotion and powerful vocals. Girls’ Generation are undoubtedly my favourite, but T-ara might just be up there for second place with Wonder Girls ^^
