Now, if you have read this blog before then you’ll know that I actually quite like T-ara. And by quite like I mean actually really <3! They've been building their fanbase with their songs Lies and TTL, but I still really love their first single, Good Person, which was from the soundtrack to Cinderella Man. It's nice to see the girls are still aware of the band before T-ara version 2.0.
Girls’ Generation – Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) @ Asia Song Contest 2009
25 SepThe highlight for me from the Asia Song Contest is SNSD! Whew~! Aside from T-ara, they are my favourite K-pop group. I know, Wonder Girls started it all but even back in the day, I always preferred Girls’ Generation compared to Tell Me or Hot. And then comparing Gee to Nobody, well, SNSD wins hands down! So I was excited to see their performance and they really do give a great performance. I don’t know what else to say, they perform so professionally now that it’s really hard to criticise them.
2NE1 – I Don’t Care @ Asia Song Contest 2009
25 SepFor those that don’t know, the Asia Song Contest is a musical extravaganza. It’s very different from the Eurovision Song Contest (in which artists representing a country compete against each other to win; it’s either really prestigious and a great honour to win, or very shameful and not really that serious). Anyways, a Korean company set up a similar kind of show, but instead of competing, artists from different Asian countries perform together to promote Asian music. It’s pretty cool, but at the same time not so cool. Obviously it’s Korean-centric because it was founded in Korea, but I would like to see some more other Asian stars. I mean, fair enough Chris Lee is huge in China, but nowhere really else. And Gackt isn’t as popular as other Japanese stars. Regardless, it’s pretty cool :) Check out 2NE1’s performance of I Don’t Care. They also won an award for best newcomer.
T-ara & Supernova – TTL @ Inkigayo
21 Sep! T-ara and Supernova performed on Inkigayo! It was awesome! Definitely their best live so far! They even sang some of the backing vocals at the end live! Everything was really well polished and awesome! Definitely one of the best performances! Lots of energy, everything was flawless! XD Yay! Finally they deliver a performance worthy of their hardwork ^_^
Also, they’re number 1 on the Cyworld charts!!! XD I wish them all the luck~
T-ara & Supernova – TTL @ Music Bank
18 SepSo, T-ara continue their promotion of TTL with Supernova and performed on Music Bank. I have to say, I prefer this performance to the on M! Countdown. They seem more relaxed, I guess it’s to be expected from a debut. I reaaaaaally like this song, it’s deceptively simple but really loving T-ara’s vocals, they never disappoint ^^;
T-ara & Supernova – T.T.L @ M! Countdown
17 SepSooooooooo, possibly my favourite Korean girl group T-ara are baaaack ^_^ Yay! I know what you’re thinking, “Really? T-ara? Tiara? Them? Them with their little hobbit singer?” But yeah! I really <3 them! I don't know why… they just seem to be working really hard and not giving up despite them not having the biggest debut. They also have really good voices and are trying to forge their way without the catchiest of pop songs. They just performed their live debut with Supernova on M! Countdown and… my opinion…
Well, I love it! They've come so far from Good Person Ver. 1. I mean, they’ve had to totally change the band members, change their concepts and looks and are now working really hard. I have lots of respect for people that keep working and working. I’m not sure if they’ll ever be super famous, but I already feel like they’ve come so far from their debut and I think they’ll just keep going and going ^_^ They’re much more professional in this performance than their live debut of Lies
T-ara & Supernova – T.T.L MV
15 SepSo, I heard about the upcoming special collab between management mates T-ara and Supernova. I was a bit skepticle at first, I mean I love T-ara but they haven’t debuted to the most sizzling of reviews. However, oh em gee! Look at this! It’s awesome! I have to say, T-ara have grown up! Obviously, sexy girl groups with rap are a dime a dozen at the moment, and I guess their management is thinking, well if you can’t beat em, join em. But! I do think the members of T-ara have some of the strongest vocals in the K-pop girl group scene at the moment (which you can still hear on T.T.L so I’m very excited! Go go T-ara!
Sandara – Kiss (feat. CL) CF Video
12 SepSo, Sandara’s debut solo single’s CF video has been released! She’s promoting Cass beer with Lee Min Ho as her love interest in the video. It looks pretty cool. Sandara can be both very cute and like a little pokemon but also very fierce and like a baracuda. I think what happens is she’s tired of Lee Min Ho’s rogueish ways and thinks: “Well, fine! I’m going to put on my 2NE1 gladrags and take control”. I think that’s what 2NE1’s message is about – girl powah!
f(x) – LA chA TA @ Music Bank
12 Sepf(x) continue their debut with another professional performance of their hit new song LA chA TA (why it’s written like that I have no idea). As always, they’re on it! And by on it I mean their vocals are good, their dance moves are sharp and their overall presence exudes confidence and charisma. How’d they get to be so professional so fast? I guess SM Entertainment has learnt a lot after debuting so many acts and knows how to put out a group who are so professional they don’t look like rookies. Compare these performances to T-ara’s and you can totally see my point.
Although I do think that the songs sound really similar to something else… The intro song that they perform is just Pussy Cat Doll’s When I Grow Up; LA chA TA sounds like a 90s/80s pop song, but maybe that’s just because it’s good.
Sandara – Kiss (feat. CL)
8 SepI never really liked 2NE1. I know their they’re the biggest rookies at the moment and have had a pretty amazing debut, but there’s something that I don’t quite like about them. I guess it’s because I like my K-pop with extra sugar, and the 2NE1 girls come with extra spice ;D Anyways, I do like their I Don’t Care song. But, Sandara is releasing a solo single called Kiss. It also features a rap from CL. My opinion..? I wouldn’t be blogging about it if I didn’t like it! It’s much less… squeaky.
